Sprinklers

Sprinkler head change out

Nissan Motor Group UK

Working with a Fire Sprinkler company at the Nissan Motor UK factory in Sunderland. The 136 sprinklers had been installed incorrectly by the client and not to specification.

We used a technique (aid climbing) to traverse across the roof area removing the heads and then installing new elbows and sprinkler heads so that they were orientated correctly.

We completed the works ahead of schedule to the delight of the client, which allowed for ample time to test.

What was key?

The pre work analysis or Site Survey was key.

Surveys of the site allow us to ascertain some very key points.

  1. Is it viable (Is rope access possible? is it the best method?).
  2. Any safety issues (hazards ie moving machinery that will need isolating, Risk assessing).
  3. The method in which we complete the task.
  4. Rescue plan

Value

The savings compared to scaffolding were astronomical. Rope Access is a safe method of accessing difficult areas when it is completed by a safe, competent and professional company. We are not afraid to say "No". If Rope Access isn't the best access method we will tell you.
